Wildflowers Devlog: Week 04

Wildflowers Devlog: Week 04

Introduction:

Hello everyone! It’s me, Guilherme "Atari Boy" Neves again!

If you saw our last Devlog, maybe you remember we started to use the Spritefusion Logo  as support and export our tileset more easily to Unity.

Also, in our weekly meeting we had a conversation about some goals for our small indie studio,  some promess and some homeworks we need to do, and two interesting fact came from it.

  • Promess: The possiblity to make a Game Jam right after finish the project, yeah the old joke about the Devs who didn't finish one project and are already thinking about the next one ,
  • Homework: Play another indie games. It's funny but me personally I don't play much video games, and I got this goal to play at least one new(or old) indie game per month, it's something to help increase our repertoire for new references.  And now i'm playing "Rabbit Hole" made by ShortCake_Cafe . It's really cool one, you should try;

-One of the best guns of the game, it's called A Gun.

  • Goals for our small indie studio: Be rich  💸  💸 💸 💸 .. and Build a community. It's really REALLY hard to build a community,  but we see as something necessary. There is this kind of rule, you need at least somewhere between 7,000 and 12,000 wishlists before lauch your game on Steam, so it can go to the popular zone. and this is a LOT of wishs. So yeah, we are starting to think about how to build a community but still have no clue how to make it , probably work on a discord for the future, twitter and blablabla ...

Anyway let's go back to the project.

🎨 Art  - Guilherme "Atari Boy" Neves

Last week I was working on the character design, and now we have her walking in 4 directions

and also she dies.

If you played our previews game you problably going to reconize it, but it's the same Death you see in Joten the nightmare forest

One of our objective is make all our game kind of "connect", like seems to be from the same universe, and this small details helps us achieve this objective.

Beside that I didn't make much progress in the project, this week I had a some good freelancer project, I worked with 3 (exacly 3) different Tilesets, so in the end of the day I didn't had time to work in the tileset for our project haha

🕹️Gameplay - Thadeu Alonso

Hey there! So, as I promised in the previous devlog, here's the finished look of the camera and map system:

The camera follows the player inside the map keeping the bounds limit:

And from one map to another there's this cool transition inspired on the first Zelda game where the game freezes for some seconds:

This is not some woooow cooool mechanic but its a necessary one haha
For the next steps there's something more exciting: COMBAT!
See you soon!
